Because the police aren’t able to take the case until he’s been missing for forty-eight hours, Shawn and Gus volunteer to investigate. An examination of Malone’s room indicates that he’s involved in something shady. Furthermore, they suspect that he can be found at TriCon, a comic book and science-fiction convention.
